  • What is Oral Immunotherapy (OIT)?

OIT is a transformative treatment that gradually increases your tolerance to allergens, aiming for partial or complete desensitization. This approach can significantly reduce or eliminate allergic reactions to foods such as peanuts, milk, eggs, and tree nuts, offering a new level of dietary freedom.

  • Can food allergies be treated or desensitized?

Yes. With Oral Immunotherapy (OIT) and Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT), we've seen significant success in reducing or eliminating allergic responses. These treatments offer hope for overcoming food allergies and achieving greater dietary freedom.

  • What is Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT)?

SLIT involves administering allergens under the tongue to build tolerance. It can be used alone or as a step towards OIT, offering a long-term solution for managing single or multiple food allergies.

  • How long does the OIT process take?

Typically, OIT for a single food allergy spans 22-26 visits, while treating multiple allergies may extend to 25-30 visits. The process includes regular monitoring and adjustments to ensure safety and effectiveness. The up-dose visits weekly or once every 2 weeks will influence the total treatment duration. Reaching "Bite-proof" can take less time while getting to free eating, where multiple foods may take longer

  • Who are suitable candidates for SLIT and OIT?

Candidates range from infants to adults with confirmed food allergies. The key is accurate diagnosis and a commitment to follow through with treatment protocols.

  • Do SLIT and OIT require FDA approval?

While not necessary for their effectiveness, FDA approval is a plus. Our office-prepared treatments are based on scientific evidence and tailored to each patient's needs.

  • What foods can be treated with SLIT or OIT?

We address a wide range of food allergies, including peanuts, milk, eggs, wheat, sesame, tree nuts, soy, chickpea, lentils, seeds, and more!

  • What kind of testing is used to diagnose food allergies?

Our diagnostic approach includes allergen skin tests, IgE blood tests, component tests, basophil activation tests, and oral food challenges, ensuring an accurate and comprehensive allergy profile.
